🌿Celebrating Children, Culture and Connection

Every child deserves to grow up feeling proud of who they are, connected to their community and supported to reach their full potential.

On 4 August, Australia celebrates National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day—a day that recognises the strength, culture and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

This year's theme, "Living Our Truth," reminds us that every child's story matters. It celebrates the importance of identity, family, community and connection to Country while encouraging children to learn, grow and thrive in safe and supportive environments.

At My Sensory Nest, we believe that learning happens through play, curiosity and meaningful experiences. Whether children are exploring nature, sharing stories, creating artwork or engaging in sensory play, every moment helps build confidence, creativity and a sense of belonging.

Families can celebrate Children's Day by:

🌿 Reading stories by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander authors.

🎨 Creating nature-inspired artwork using leaves, sticks and natural materials.

📖 Sharing family stories and talking about the importance of kindness, respect and community.

🤲 Exploring sensory play using natural textures such as sand, leaves, bark and stones.

By celebrating children's voices and encouraging inclusive learning through play, we help create brighter futures for every child.

At My Sensory Nest, we're proud to support families by providing carefully selected sensory toys that inspire curiosity, creativity and learning every day.
